Bunney, Michael John Hewetson 1907 - 1997

Michael John Hewetson Bunney was born in Hampstead, London, England on 30 June 1907. His father was the architect Michael Frank Wharlton Bunney (1873-1927). He studied at Oxford University and at the Architectural Association schools in London. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1935 and subsequently practised in London. In 1935 he married the architect Charlotte Gray (1910-1995). She changed her name to Charlotte Bunney and together they practised as M. J. H. & Charlotte Bunney [also known as Michael & Charlotte Bunney]. In 1936 they designed 13 Downshire Hill, in Hampstead for themselves. The house attracted considerable interest in the architectural press.  

Michael Bunney was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1948. His address was given as 30 Lowther Street, Kendal, Westmorland in 1950. He died in Kendal, Cumbria on 23 July 1997.
