Dykes, Thomas 1853 - 1930

Thomas Dykes was born in Fife, Scotland in 1853 and was articled to Charles Edward (1816-1890) and Thomas Saunders Robertson (1835-1923) of Edward & Robertson in Dundee from 1896 to 1874.  He commenced independent practice as an architect in Glasgow in 1880. He from c.1898 to c.1905 was partnership in Glasgow with Andrew Robertson (1868-1932) as T. Dykes & Robertson.  Following the split with Robertson, Dykes formed a new partnership with Hugh Dale (1872-?) as Thomas Dykes & Dale. The practice had an office at 65 West Regent Street, Glasgow. This partnership was dissolved in c.1919. Dykes subsequently practised alone.

Dykes was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911. He died in Glasgow on 6 October 1930
