Haywood-Farmer, Edward 1871 - 1917

Edward Haywood-Farmer [also known as Edward Haywood Farmer*] was born in Wigginton, Staffordshire, England on 13 December 1871. He was articled to Josiah Mander (1840?-1910) in Northampton in 1889 before moving to Birmingham.   In 1898 he began working ass an assistant to Herbert Tudor Buckland (1869-1951). The following year he joined Buckland in partnership as Buckland & Farmer [also known as as H.T. Buckland & E. Haywood-Farmer and as Buckland & Haywood Farmer].

Buckland appears to have been the lead architect in the partnership and only Haywood-Farmer's own house in Sutton Coldfield is attributed solely to him.

In 1914 William Haywood (1877-1957) joined the partnership and following the death of Haywood-Farmer in 1917 the practice was renamed Buckland & Haywood.

Haywood-Farmer was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911.  His address was given as 25a Paradise Street, Birmingham in 1906; Bracebridge Road, Sutton Coldfield and Norwich Chambers, Congreve Street, Birmingham in 1911 and 1914.  He died in Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire on 17 May 1917.

* His name is given as Edward Haywood Farmer in the 1911 England Census, however, professionally he was usually known as Edward Haywood-Farmer
