Hill, Henry Houghton 1882 - 1951

Henry Houghton Hill was born in Cork, Ireland in 1882 and trained as an architect in Cork under his father, Arthur Hill (1846-1921). He also attended Liverpool University and the Royal Academy Schools in London from 1907 to 1910. In 1909 he was awarded the Royal Institute of British Architects Silver Medal and £25 for an essay.

From 1909 he was in partnership with his father in Cork as Arthur Hill & Henry H. Hill.  He also lectured on architecture at University College, Cork, and wrote articles on architecture for the Irish Builder and other journals.

Arthur Houghton Hill was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1919. He was also elected a member of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) in 1920, and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (FRIAI) in 1923. In 1924 he was Vice-President of the RIAI.  In 1941 he was elected an Associate of the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA). He died on 9 February 1951.
