Merrill, Alfred 1896 - 1983

Alfred Merrill was born on 11 July 1896. Nothing is known about his training as an architect. In the 1939 England and Wales Register his occupation was given as Resident Architect London Passenger Transport Board.  With Thomas Robert Bilbow (1893-1983) and Kenneth James Hyde Seymour (1910-1999) he designed the main factory building at London Transport's Aldenham Bus Overhaul Works.  

Merrill was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1945. His address was given as 21 Charterhouse Road, Orpington, Kent in 1939 and 1950.  In 1958 he travelled to New York on the RMS Queen Mary.  He died in Brookline, Norfolk County, Massachusetts on 21 October 1983
