Norman Dennis Quick was born in Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales on 3 July 1895. It is not known where and with whom he trained as an architect. His address was given as 77 Parliament Hill, Hampstead, London in 1924 and Send Court, Send, near Woking, Surrey in 1926. In c.1926, with Robert Stanley Dixon (1891-1975), he formed the architectural partnership Dixon & Quick which initially had an office at 25 High Street, Guildford and moved to 180 High Street, Guildford, Surrey in 1927. In c.1930 Frederick John Whitlock Hodgson (1882-1971) joined the practice which was renamed Hodgson, Dixon & Quick. The firm's office was located at 201 High Street, Guildford, Surrey. By 1936 Hodgson had with withdrawn from the practice which reverted to its original name, Dixon & Quick. They also moved to a new office at 8 Quarry Street, Guildford, Surrey.
Quick was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1921 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1934. He died in Midhurst, Sussex on 25 March 1973.
