Percy Robinson

Percy Robinson was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, England on 7 December 1868 and was articled to William Henry Beevers (1855-1933) in Leeds for five years, during which time he studied at Leeds School of Art.  After leaving Buckley's office he worked as an assistant to Thomas Winn (c.1869-1908) in Leeds for two years, and to Harry Bagshaw Buckley (1856-1922) for one year.  

He commenced practice as an architect in Leeds in 1890 and was in partnership with William Alban Jones (1875-1960) as Robinson & Jones from 1905 to 1914. He later formed a partnership with John James Birkinshaw (1894-1976) in Leeds.

Robinson was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1905. He was also a member of the Leeds and Yorkshire Architectural Society and its President.  He died in 1950.

Works: Leeds Corporation fire station extensions, and firemen's dwellings; Children's Home, Leeds Union; Bramley Union Offices; Armley Library; Doncaster Masonic Hall; Conilsborough Hospital extensions ; several large blocks of shops and offices in the centre of Leeds; clothing, boot and shoe, leather and engineering works, etc.: domestic work.
