Scott, Shepherd & Breakwell originated as Scott, Chesterton & Shepherd, an architectural partnership formed in London , England Elisabeth Whitworth Scott (1898-1972), Maurice Chesterton (1883-1962), John Chiene Shepherd (1896-1978) and Alison Shepherd (1898-1972), formerly Alison Sleigh, in 1929. By 1936 Chesterton had withdrawn from the practice and John Breakwell (c.1905-1959) became a partner in the firm which was renamed Scott, Shepherd & Breakwell. Notable among projects by Scott, Shepherd & Breakwell. was the Fawcett Building at Newnham College, Cambridge, competed in 1938. A house designed by Scott, Shepherd & Breakwell for the Modern Homes Exhibition at Gidea Park, Essex, in 1934 is discussed in Small Houses £500-£2500 (1927 p. 89). The partnership was dissolved in c.1938
