Dakers, William Sydie 1881 - 1958

William Sydie Dakers was born in Brondesbury, London, England on 22 June 1881 and was articled to William Lobin Trant Brown (1865-1925) from 1900 to 1903.  He also attended the Architectural Association Schools in London and King's College, London.  He was employed as an assistant to Edmund Buckle in 1903 and by William Lobin Brown in 1904-05.

Dakers commenced independent practice as an architect in London in 1905.  He worked as an assistant to Sir Henry Tanner (1849-1939) from 1908 and 1910 when he returned to independent practice in London.  During World War Two he worked with the Admiralty in Bath, Somerset. Following the war he was in practice in Bristol.

He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1912.  His address was given as 11 Chevening Road, Willesden, Middlesex in 1901; 207 Chevening Road, Brondesbury, Willesden, Middlesex in 1911; Vernon House, Bloomsbury Square, London, Haverford, North End Road, Hampstead, London and Cross Roads House, Golders Green, London in 1912; 14, Stratford Place, London in 1914; 110, Jermyn Street, London in 1923 and 1926; 43 Bedford Row, London in 1926; 48 Westminster Mansions, Great Smith Street, Westminster, London in 1930; 33 Westbourne Terrace, Lancaster Gate, London in 1935 and 1939; and 10 Sion Hill, Bath, Somerset in 1958.  He died at 6 Devon Way, Hillingdon, Middedex on 9 January 1958.
