Thomas Craigie Marwick was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on 10 February 1878 and was articled to his father, Thomas Purves Marwick (1854-1927), in Edinburgh from 1898 to 1902. He then remained with him until 1917, when he joined his father in partnership as Thomas P. Marwick & Son. He continued the practice following the death of his father in 1927 with the title of the firm unchanged. He in turn was joined in partnership by his son, Thomas Waller Marwick (1903-1971) in 1935. The practice eventually closed in the early 1940s.
Thomas Craigie Marwick was admitted a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1932. Throughout his career as an architect he lived and worked in Edinburgh. He died in Edinburgh on 4 March 1965.
Architectural projects by Thomas Craigie Marwick and Thomas P. Marwick & Son included several shops for St Cuthbert's Wholesale Co-operative Association in Edinburgh; and pavilions and other buildings for the Glasgow Empire Exhibition at Bellahouston, Glasgow in 1937.
