Charles Howard Minshull was born in Chester, Cheshire, England in 1858. He was articled to John Douglas (1830-1911) in Chester in 1874 and remained with him as his assistant until 1898 when he taken into partnership as Douglas & Minshull.
Architectural projects by Douglas & Minshull included St Oswald's Chambers in St Werburgh Street, Chester (1898); Public Baths, Chester (1898-1901); St Ethelwold's Church, Shotton, Flintshire (1898–1902); additions to St Matthew's Church Buckley, Flintshire (1898-1905); St Deiniol's Library, Hawarden, Flintshire (1899-1906); St John the Evangelist's Church in Sandiway, Cuddington, Cheshire (1902-03); and Episcopal Church, Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire (1903).
It would seem that Minshull possibly took over the practice in c.1909 as by then Douglas's health was failing and he died in 1911. Following Douglas's death, Minshull formed a partnership with Edward John Muspratt (1857-1928). The practice, Douglas, Minshull & Muspratt, retained Douglas's name in the title, which suggests that the Douglas & Minshull was not dissolved in 1909 as is usually stated.
Minshull died in Chester on 20 September 1934.
