Philip Nevill Taylor [also known incorrectly as Philip Neville Taylor] was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England in 1912. He trained as an architect at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol and as an articled pupil.  In 1934 he was awarded a Dame Janet Stancomb Wills Travelling Studentship. He subsequently practised as an architect in Bristol. In the late 1930s he was chief assistant to the Bristol firm James & Meredith.  In 1939 he began working for the Bristol Aeroplane Company.

With Eric Ross (1908-1975) and and David William Durieu Aberdeen (1913-1987) he was responsible for the design of Aircraft Assembly Buildings in Filton, Bristol for the Bristol Aeroplane Company built in 1947-49.
